There is no doubt in my mind that I had an easier time connecting with Berlin Park by using Twitter. If I was assigned a project like this years ago when I didn't have the technology, or I just wasn't forced to use the technology, my connection wouldn't have been so strong. With Twitter, I was able to record my pictures and statements in one spot, which made it very convenient to view, which made it more likely for me to view it often! Without twitter, I would have brought my trusty pencil and paper to record what I saw, but I would have to use my camera to capture the pictures as well. The second genre I used in my Twitterive was photo essay, and the pictures really helped the piece come to life, but it also helped me convey what I needed to say about the scenes. I don't know if I would've connected to the scenes as well as I did, if I took my camera instead of my cell phone and recorded the information at two different times. Many times I have received good comments on my handwriting, but that was only because I knew someone other than myself was going to view it! When I take notes for my own personal reading, my handwriting turns into scribble. This leads me to believe that something may have gotten lost in the translation if I used the old fashioned way of recording research, because that has happened to me many times in the past. Another benefit of using Twitter for this project was having the ability to view my classmates postings, especially in the beginning, because I struggled trying to figure out what or where I was going to research. Twitter allowed my class to become a learning community outside of the school's walls, which helped me get started.
